CHAPTER FIFTEEN
ODION WAS IN Slateâs room now, and he was supposed to be getting ready for bed, but he was simply standing there. He didnât know what to do with himself, actually. His heart was thudding away in his chest again, like everything he did around Slate made him nervous.
He hated that.
He despised his own weakness.
Usually, he wasnât weak, that was the thing, and anything that made him weak was something he tried to conquer.
But the thing about Slate was it had always been different with him. Slate wasnât someone he conquered. Slate conquered him. Except, oddly, even though Slate was so easily dominant sexually, he was vulnerable emotionally, romantically. He confused Odion, truthfully. But then, Odion confused himself when it came to Slate.
Growing up, Odion had always known that there was a possibility that he would be sexually intimate with a man, and heâd thought of this with a sort of resignation, not curiosity, not anticipation. Heâd always assumed this meant that his preferences lay with womenâthe way he understood most menâs didâand that this aberration because of the dragon heat would simply be something he endured.
Maybe it had all started out that way, but Odion didnât know what it was now.
He definitely didnât think of his time with Slate as something heâd endured.
And the time with the three of them?
Well, Odion thought about that more than was strictly necessary. Heâd occasionally, in the few moments he had to himself, which were very few now that he and Banyan had been living together, thought about Slate and Banyan together and touched himself. He couldnât do that often, of course. For one thing, he was usually doing it in bed, while Banyan was sleeping next to himâeither in the morning or in the midst of the night. He always felt guilty, as if there were some rule that he was supposed to save every single one of his erections for her, that he wasnât meant to use them for his own private pleasure at all.
He also felt shame thinking about Slate when he was with her, and he refused to allow himself to do that. Heâd wipe his mind clear and fill it only with the sights and sounds and feel of Banyan, his Banyan, his mate.
She was perfect.
He was in love with her.
And she was enough.
He did not need this other man in his life. He definitely should not be aroused by the idea of another man fucking his mate. It was perverse and disgusting, and he despised himself for that as well.
âStill dressed?â
Odion whirled.
Slate was coming through the door, yanking his vest over his head. He tossed it on a chair in the room and pulled his shirt over his head, revealing his light-green sculpted chest.
Odion looked away. His cock twitched at the sight of it though. Traitor, thought Odion at his crotch.
But then sexual attraction didnât always coincide with rational thought or with emotional truth. Odion could find anything attractive, regardless of whether he actually wanted to have sex with it or not.
